Unmanned Systems (part of JDI Integrations) builds ECITON, a fully autonomous drone swarm platform for defense, border security, and critical infrastructure protection — operating without GPS or RF signals via AI-powered visual/acoustic navigation. We’re dual-HQ’d in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Kyiv, Ukraine.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We’re hiring a Senior Paralegal to support a fast-growing international MilTech company — not a traditional administrative role. You’ll understand how legal decisions affect revenue, partnerships, and growth, and operate independently in a fast-moving environment shaped by wartime conditions, export control, and defense-sector regulation.
You bring deep Ukrainian legal knowledge, experience with international commercial agreements, and comfort operating without settled precedent as DefTech rules evolve. You’ll own contract review, prioritize legal work against business objectives, proactively flag risks with solutions attached, and lead a small paralegal team — partnering closely with leadership, sales, procurement, and finance across our Kyiv and U.S. teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contracts & Commercial Agreements
* Lead review of NDAs, MSAs, licensing agreements, professional services agreements, vendor and procurement contracts, strategic partnership and distribution/reseller agreements, and international commercial contracts — including hardware vendor deals (e.g., components, motors, engines) and dual-use hardware sales.
* Flag legal risk with practical, business-focused solutions; keep turnaround aligned with growth priorities.
* Resolve routine matters independently; escalate only what’s material.
Ukrainian Legal & MilTech Expertise
* Track Ukrainian law and regulatory change, especially export control, dual-use classification, and defense-tech compliance.
* Advise on Ukrainian corporate, employment, and commercial matters, including the realities of running a defense-tech team out of Kyiv during wartime.
* Coordinate with external Ukrainian counsel as needed.
International & Compliance
* Support legal operations spanning the U.S., Europe, and other jurisdictions relevant to our dual-HQ structure.
* Ensure agreements meet applicable export control, privacy, security, and governance requirements.
* Support compliance programs and governance documentation across jurisdictions.
Business Partnership & Leadership
* Work directly with leadership, sales, procurement, and finance; adjust legal workload to business priorities.
QUALIFICATION:
* Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; paralegal certification preferred.
* 7+ years paralegal/commercial legal experience; 5+ years supporting technology, defense, or hardware companies.
* Experience supporting international companies operating outside Ukraine, ideally with significant U.S. exposure.
* Deep knowledge of Ukrainian commercial and corporate law.
* Experience managing complex commercial agreements and compliance/governance programs.
* Prior experience leading legal support staff.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively with minimal oversight.
* Professional English; fluent Ukrainian.
Preferred
* Experience in Ukraine’s DefTech, defense-tech, or dual-use hardware industry.
* Familiarity with Ukraine’s drone procurement ecosystem and/or international hardware vendor sourcing.
* Experience with CLM systems (Ironclad, ContractPodAI, etc.) or platforms like Monday.com, DocuSign, Microsoft Dynamics.
* ISO/SOC 2, cybersecurity, privacy, or export control compliance experience.
* Experience coordinating external counsel across jurisdictions.
